Event: Wines of the World VI

The Buffalo Rotary’s Sixth Annual Wines of the World (WOW) fundraising event was held on March 11, 2011 from 6 – 9 PM at Kleinhans Music Hall.
The event featured nine of the area’s finest restaurants, six premium wineries and four craft brewed beer varieties. The $30,000 that was raised from WOW will be used to fund the Buffalo Rotary Foundation community projects, such as literacy advocacy, Cradle Beach, Food Bank of Western New York, and Rotary Rink just to name a few.
Features of the fundraiser were a silent and live auction, and 50/50 split that the Buffalo Jill’s assisted with ticket sales. Several businesses in the community signed on to be a sponsor of the event. Sponsors were NOCO, Phillips Lytle, Linde, Mollenburg-Betz, Dignity Funeral Homes, Insty Prints, Pepsi, Gauthier Blacktop, Lumsden & McCormick, LLP, Hyatt Buffalo, and Colvin Cleaners.
On TV, WOW Chairman Jack Pederson commented, “The WOW fundraising event is a perfect example of an event that the typical Rotary Club can promote and execute. It takes the help of the whole club and is a good way to keep members of the club involved and motivated to help out. The funds that are raised go to very beneficial projects and helps the Club have an impact in the community.”
